About the Choir

Glór! was established in 2008 as a Community Choir, with an emphasis on learning Irish music as a social activity. The founding members came along with a real variety of choral experience and ability, from those with no experience of choral music at all, through to old hands from other established choirs.

Although the choir quickly developed and extended its range across a very wide range of musical genres, the core aims of the choir remain the same – to bring all of our singers to concert standard, regardless of experience or perceived ability, in a fun and relatively informal environment.

We rehearse on Monday evenings between 7.30 & 9.15 in

St John’s Church. Anyone is welcome to come along and listen or join in. Strictly no auditions and no previous experience required. If you can’t make a regular commitment, you are welcome to dip in and out for specific performances and we provide music and digital resources, so that you can do some homework when time allows.

We perform at a variety of community events and concerts, throughout the year. Our repertoire for these will range from folk, pop classics and show tunes through to sacred anthems, classical choral music and hymns.

Under our musical director Denise Campbell, and

accompanied by Emily Owen, in the run up to Christmas, we perform a very wide range of carols and Christmas music, old and new. The highlight is our Christmas Concert at St John's Church.

Each summer, we hold a concert with the orchestra and invite along singers from other choirs to perform major choral works, to a packed house.
